National Rites of Passage
Program Components
The components of rites of passage programs are specific to the nature and type of rites process. Birth, puberty, marriage, elder, and ancestral rites all have significantly different processes, depending on the phase of development and the type of program. Warfield-Coppock (1990) refers to the rituals of rites as symbolic acts that convey stability, ease of transition, groundedness, balance, and order.
